I'm not selling the things, but "slightly" seems to be a strange word to use here.

I'm only going on the table you linked to but the 580EX & EXII improve from 31 metres to 52 metres in the EU, the 430EXs from 12 to 31 metres.

Given that their advertised range is 240 metres and the non-RF producing flashes can do that, I'd hardly say the interference problems are solved, just slightly improved upon.

That table seems to suggest that the European frequencies are slightly better for interference but the flashes still don't reach anywhere near their max advertised range.

They are a lot closer to their advertised range, if you don't have a 430EX-II or 580EX-II :p

One has nearly doubled, the other nearly tripled. That's hardly "slightly".

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

They've only *nearly* doubled and tripled because their range was so crippled to start with. In terms of the 240 metres they should be producing with no RF issues, they've improved what... 15-20% ?

I suppose if you happen to work at exactly 32 metres from your lights then it might be a big improvement to you, but from reports, the interference isn't as simple as a clear min & max range - it also causes misfires, dumb-fires, unpredictable behaviour, e.t.c. at shorter distances that are supposedly within the working range.

And uses frequencies that aren't legal to use in Australia, and they won't ship them directly to you.

Our local store of PW selling that new pocket wizard in really amazing prices, Flex is about US$265 and the mini is about US$238, if you get a kit like 1 flex and 1 mini it will be cheaper, i bought 1 mini and 2 flex with about US$652, so anyone would like to have a vacation to UAE and spend less money to buy new PW from here? ;-)a

Yes, they are, as UAE is using CE frequencies, really the price is what making me to go with it over RP or CyberSync [Because New PW TTL online will be little expensive for shipping to me], but that store is like excluding or removing the shipping cost, and i am a very happy customer to them after my Hasselblad, new product from them will be Profoto light in really good prices as well.

Radio Poppers PX line are about to be released through Ted's here in Australia, from the email I have it's "in the coming months".

I will be waiting as the firing consistency issues and woeful range when using 580EXII's (i only have 580EX II flashes) are not something I want to buy into.

Last tikme I heard from RP they weren't promising a timeframe for us - was the email from RP or just from Teds?

You've seen the better ranges on the CE freq ones, yeah?

yeah the email was from bernard at radio popper...

nah, i haven't seen the better ranges from the CE ones, but if they haven't fixed that "shielding" issue from the 580EX II's then they are still out of the question for me.

I have a couple or the TT5 Pocketwizards. They work great in the studio. I have only had them for a few days and Have not had a chance to test out doors. They are CE as I am in Australia. What sort of range would you expect?

I think PW were negligent in their rush to bring the new products to market (perhaps to bring something out to compete with RadioPoppers?). Pocket Wizards are after market products and therefore should have been designed to work with the Canon flash units and the RF emissions from them. Hopefully the next version of PWs will include proper shielding that means the range will be extended to what they advertise.

Little bit of playing with my three FlexTT5s and two 580EX-IIs.

Default C1 is much better than default C2. I got from one side of my house to the other - bear in mind we have solid double brick walls inside.
