My last name is Crop (which could be a good source of nicknames on a photography forum). When I went into my engineering school in France, I went through a hazing by the sophomore students (an old French tradition which is now forbidden). To identify ourselves, we had to wear a T-shirt with our first and last name on it.
Some guy took a marker and changed Crop into Crapo (which phonetically means "toad" in French). It was filmed, and since then, all my friends call me Krapo (the spelling changed slightly).

Usually, when I tell my nickname to an english native speaker, they all have the same reaction :) They laugh, and I can hear them thinking (if only that dumb froggy knew what it means...). That makes me grin even more :D

Hey, for a frog eater you're pretty funny. Most francophies I know wouldn't laugh at themselves. ^5

The name "Mafud" is more famous as one of the names that migrated out of Africa with the Moors during the Crusades.
Nearly every "Mafud" of any serious reputation is in...ready for this? Spain!
No, I'm an African Muslim "Mafud", not Spanish.

Thanks Gary :)

Yeah, I have a hard job trying to disprove the usual clichés about arrogant frenchies.
But hey, you have to understand us; it's not our fault if our country is at the center of the universe! ;)

My name is Shannon but when my little sister was a toddler she couldn't say it so she called me "Hanni" and it just turned into Shanni. My family and close friend have always called me Shanni.

My given name is Heather Lynn,(every girl in the US born in the 70's has the middle name of either Lynn or Ann) My sisters name is Heidi Leigh. My mother, when we were kids would call us Hebylou and Hibylee. When the yahoo came along, way back, my husband and I were picking out screen names and he suggested Hebylou. I thought is was retarded, but Heather was already taken, so I have been Heatherlou ever since.

Carpetshark is a nickname for a domestic ferret. They are also known as Dookers - we have 5 of them!
I usually use Weezyrider because of these ferrets and a Kawasaki 1500 Nomad.

My all-time favourite pet was a Burmese cat we had called Meatballs, or just Meaty for short. The name Meaty was taken already, so I chose Meaty0, because when he walked away from you (with his tail stickin' upright, like always), an "0" is what you saw:D

Now his memory lives on!

And my hobbit name is..Hambut Bramble of Willowbottom...Oh dear!
