I need a big one. Like... huge.

Not for hiking, but to hold EVERYTHING for storage. So that I have all my kit in one "handy" place, including tripods, lightstands, brollys, cameras, lenses etc.

Easy to go to when I need stuff, easy to throw in the car when going for a shoot.

I found this bag and thought it was perfect:
https://www.foto-walser.biz …to_and_Studio_Bag_XXL.htm (external link)
But it is too short to fit my tripod and light stands. Otherwise perfect.

Then I found this bad boy:
https://www.foto-walser.biz …Studio_Trolley_Bag_XL.htm (external link)
But it is missing the insert with the padded dividers for camera bodies, lenses, flashes etc. Otherwise perfect.

This one would be friggin awesome:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …CS104_Equipment_Case.html (external link)
But it is too short to fit my tripod and light stands.

Any suggestions? Tripod is a Manfrotto 055 MF3 w. 0329 3-way head. About 80cms/31,5" in length and it needs to fit INSIDE the bag. A huge peli case with padded dividers would be cool, but expensive.

What do you guys use for storage? The missus is starting to dislike my current system with two camera bags partly filled, tripod and light stands in a corner and gear all over the dining table :D

Pelican cases come in much bigger sizes than the one you looked at, at B&H. For example, check out this one (external link). Or just browse around at http://www.pelican.com/ (external link).

Perhaps a trip to the Army surplus store for a bag and order your on dividers to customize it as you see fit?

Not sure I'd call my method a method, because my wife says theres none!

All my tripod/monopod, backpack, cleaning kit etc goes under the spare bed. One bag with lenses and bodies is seperately kept under the same bed, well, it is sometimes, honest! Small stuff is kept in two large plastic storage boxes with clip down lids to keep the dust out.

I tend to pack the backpack as required and take either the tripod or monopod ditto.

You are asking for a lot. You want something long enough to hold your tripod and light stands, but with room for camera equipment and accessories. Something that big would not be easy to move around with. I would say it would be easier to buy a large bag / case for your camera equipment, and then a second longer case to store your tripod and light stands. Two bags shouldn't be a problem, and it keeps all those nice heavy metal stand bits from saying hi to your expense glass lenses.

i go the two bag route - my Thinktank backpack for cameras/lenses then a long padded bag for tripod/lightstands - simple enough and i can actually pick them up still :-)

look at padded bags for speaker tripods - or an SKB or Gator case made for drum hardware or speaker stands

Thanks for all your replies! (*shakes fist angrily at e-mail notification system*)

Now I actually measured the stuff:

Tripod with head: 76cm
Tripod w/o head: 63cm (It comes of easily)

Light stand w. swivel: 78,5cm
Light stand w/o swivel: 68,5 cm

Looks like 70cm inside space could suffice... Hello Peli 1654 (external link)!

If I add the Photographers organizer lid thingymajig it would be perfect for storage and lugging around. A bunch of my friends do some off-road racing and I would have no problem trowing a PELI case on a pick-up truck. I'd secure it somehow, but I'd be confident that my gear was safe :)

you could leave it out in the rain at night and all your stuff would be fine in a Peli-case... thats for sure!

I too would go the 2 bag route; how about a bag like they use for those easy ups for light stands and tripods; plus the mega freaking huge bag of your choice to lug your gear to and from your car in?

I would also do the 2 bag route with 1 Pelican for all the gear and one for the light stand and tripod. That way you can fit all the camera gear you need.

I would think the two case route would be the way to go. My personal plan is to get a Pelican 1610 for the gear (will leave me room for growth) and a Pelican 1510 for lighting gear, nice size as I only have strobist stuff. Then if I am going on a trip and want to take a lot of gear I can use the 1510 for that as well. This is not an original plan on my part as I am stealing it from other and wiser POTN members. Thanks SuzieView & Jim G.
