After being very curious about TS-E lenses for quite some time, I finally broke down and ordered a 45mm TS-E. I have a fairly good understanding of how it works, but I expect there is going to be a pretty steep learning curve.

One thing I am very curious about is modifying the lens so the the tilt and shift movements are on the same plane (I hope I am saying that right, or you know what I mean). What exactly does this do, and could anyone show examples of how it may be beneficial?

So if you have a TS-E lens, please let me know if you modified it and why. And if you have not modified yours, why not? :)

Thanks!
Tim

I have a TSE collection and have modified the 90 only. For what I often use it for, portrait and fairly close to macro, when I use the tilt some shift if caused so I modified it to correct that. I can very precisely bring things back into the frame I want. Many many others only do the 24 for some other purpose. For landscapes only (I use it here often as well) I would not have modified it.

I did not modify the others because I seldom run into situations that I want tilt and shift on the same plane. Now if Canon would update them so there is another joint in them so we could modify them on the fly that would be very nice or put shifts in two directions even better (I remember an Olympus one did that).

PS The shift from tilting is most pronounced in the 90 compared to the other two.

I modded my TS-E24L and then changed it back.

I noticed that, the new ones looks really sweet! I don't know if I would be interested in the 24mm, but the 17 could be very cool!
