They look a lot like my Cactus triggers, and even share a model number. Assuming they are the same, I'd recommend them, but not necessarily for really serious work. I've had a few misfires.

Thanks Brian. I wanted to use my 580EX with an umbrella on a stand and these seem ideal.

I would go with cybersyncs... just a personal opinion... they are cheaper than the PW but just as reliable, at least when I have used them...

Yes, I know there are many triggers on the market. In fact, I have a pair of Mini-Magic, which seem to work quite well, but they a micro-phone plug fitting (2.5mm) which doesn't fit a pc socket (the sort I would have with a hotshoe adapter). What attracted me to the one in my link was the fact that it would work directly with the 580EX, whereas I don't think the others would.

Do a quick google for "yongnuo CTR-301" Roy. These seem to be the follow on from the ones you've linked to. The seem a bit more stable physically, are both radio and optical, and seem to be getting decent reports here and there. I've actually ordered a transmitter and a couple of triggers (cost just over £25 in total) but as they haven't arrived yet I can't really comment on how they perform yet.

cheers

That seems to be more like it Bill - I'll investigate that. Thanks.

Hi, there this is my first post in this forum. But here is a link http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13089 (external link) to some good deals, might be useful? This company is also from asia. Ordered a couple of things there, it might take a while but hey shipping is free. :) Hope it helps.

Thanks Roy. This (external link)might be worth having a look at. It's a Flickr page discussing them.

cheers

I have used these with my 580EXII and two 430EX's with very little misfiring (after finding the channel that worked the best). I've only used them indoors but had great success. That being said I have recently bought some AlienBees strobes and have gone to CyberSync's (very nice) so I will be selling my PT-04TM triggers.
