Bill - I ordered mine (CTR301) yesterday and I got an email today saying they had been dispatched. On the web page it says that you should check that everything is there and all right before signing for the package - is it really practical to open the package and examine all the contents before signing for it (with the delivery man waiting patiently!)?

Realistically I doubt it Roy! I've never met a delivery man yet who wasn't in a mad rush to get to the next drop. I imagine you could sign it "unexamined" though. Let's hope (both of us) that they're ok. The odds are that they should be, and I doubt that they'd argue over a genuine problem though. Basically I just guess they're covering their ar&*?s

cheers

That's exactly my view Bill. It'll be interesting to compare notes when they arrive!

Just out of interest did you get chance to look at all of that Flickr stuff?
And did you manage to find a set at just over £25 or had it gone up a bit?
I've no doubt that the pocket wizards and their ilk are superb but I just couldn't justify an outlay of a few hundred quid for the amount of use I'll give them.

Anyway... I'll add a bit more to this thread once they arrive!

I did see the Flickr discussion and it seemed to me that the consensus was that are are good value for money. I did manage to get them for just over £25, which is fine for me, as I only want them for a specific purpose (to use the 580EX) - and that won't be that often.

I think you've missed the point a little scorpio - I really wanted something inexpensive the would fire the 580EX. The Cybersyncs won't do that anywhere near so easily.

Roy - they've arrived.
Ordered Saturday 14th February, shipped Monday 16th and arrived Saturday 21st. Not bad I think for Hong Kong to UK. Initial impressions are very good, build quality looks to be fine, well actually, for the money it's excellent. More importantly the performance seems good too. Enough range for anything I'll need, and so far not a single miss-fire at all.

I haven't had time to do any intensive testing because I've been having computer problems you wouldn't believe! But as I'm up and running at the moment I thought I'd just do a quick post to let you know.

cheers

Thanks Bill. It's good to know that, so far, you're pleased with it and I look forward to receiving mine.

I have 3 sets that never failed.

I only wish the photographer was that reliable. ;)

Do you mean 3 sets of the CTR-301s?

I believe the CTR-301s are supposed to be an improvement, so it's good to know that you are pleased with yours.

Actually, mine was intended as a general comment on the absolute trigger reliability requirement (regardless of price) ... for amateur photographers.
