Glanced at yours and many other reviews before I went to my local photo store for their 15% bag sale. I have a Crumpler 5MDH and needed something bigger for a trip to Japan. I also read a travel photographer's suggestion that, if you get a shoulder bag, get a bag that is long from top to bottom so you can stuff non-photo items in the bag, also.
Like you, I gravitated to the 7MHD and the UD60. The 7MDH looked slightly smaller than the UD60, but seemed to have lot less interior space because of its thick padding. The UD60 was larger (top-to-bottom and side-to-side but not thickness) with thinner padding and, thus, had a larger interior space. The UD60 looks like a big bag my wife uses occasionally.
After testing the UD60 with my 5D2 + 200/2.8 combo, I bought it.
At home, I could easily fit both XTi+200/2.8, 5D2+24-105/4 and 430EX flash into the bag. But for the trip to Japan, I'm taking way less: Just the 5D2, 24-105/4, 50/1.4 and 270EX flash (plus other small photo stuff). With the 5D2+24-105 facing lens down, there is about 2 inches of space above the camera and 8 inches to the side. So, they'll be a lot of room for my water bottle, waterproof windbreaker, a parka (for downpours), shoe horn etc. The fact that it can also carry a small laptop is just gravy for us.
Edit: Forgot to mention my only complaint so far. The shoulder strap is well padded, BUT the padding material "wrinkles" when bent and thus the edges dig into my shoulder. I hope these edges softens up the more I use the bag.
FInally Edit: MY BAD!! Forget all I said about the UD60. I bought the UD40 not the UD60 The UD60 was the one I passed over because it was too big for me.
Too much stuff, not enough shooting time.
