Took my son to the swim cahpionships this last weekend. Parents were not supposed to be on deck so I followed the rules (unlike most parents there) and I sent my camera down with my son to take pictures. Yes, I know he is 12, but he has been using my stuff to shoot sports for a couple of years now between his events or basketball games and I can honestly say he is starting to get the hang of it. I set the setting and tell him how to adjust some things as the conditions change. Sometimes he really messes it up and other times he nails it ! Kinda like me! LOL

Anyway, here are some shots he took using my 40D, Siggy 70-200 2.8 and my 24-105 L IS, ISO 3200, 1/500 ss at 2.8

Not the greatest shots, but not bad for a 12 year old between events...

These are all great pictures. He is doing well - has a good teacher!

I've taken a friends 11 year old son to a civil war reenactment and a native american powwow to shoot. It's interesting looking at what they can come up with.

Did you have to do alot of cropping?

I did some cropping, but not much, too much cropping in these low light situations makes the pics come out not so good, too noisie or pixilated and soft! these are at ISO 3200 and I didnt use a noise reducers so they are noisie enough as it is...lol

Kids DO have a different perspective and its fun to see how they see the world..

On a similar note, I was watching the Animal Planet TV station this weekend, and someone put a small camera on their cats collar and set it to take pictures every 2 minutes as it wandered around their neighborhood. What a DIFFERENT perspective on the world, it was very cool!
