i really really really like HDR pics. this is what ive been looking for for a long time. i didnt know what it was or how it was done though. till today and read through here and tutorials and such. i got dynamic photo hdr and started playing tonight. i just did this pic (after a long night of class) just to try the program out. i didnt intend to do hdr with it (since i didnt know what it was at the time) but i tried it anyway. didnt spend much time aligning as i just wanted to see how lighting settings and stuff worked in the program. and what the output file looked like. it is very very sweet and cant wait to get out there now to shoot some purpose taken hdr shots.purhapse i shouldnt post such a crappy pic but o well im too excited i have anew toy for my new toy

well looks like its all really out of whack. Did you shoot this without a tripod? I have had better luck taking one JPG or RAW and creating a mock HDR. It turns out alot better than using 3 images that you didnt use on a tripod. Also did you use bracketing or are they all just of the same exposure?

ya this was 3 images i shot from a trail side with 3 different settings without a tripod. like i said i didnt spend but a few seconds kinda aligning the pics as i just wanted to see what the output looked like. they were all just brought in at one time and i moved the dials back and forth a little and that was about it.

You'd be better off with a under- or overexposed photo than that HDR. Not very pleasing to look at I'm afraid. Try again but use a tripod or some other form of support for your camera.

if the weather isnt bad out today im gonna try to nab some pics on a tripod and play around with the program. it was 11:30 last night when i was working on that and like i said i had no intention of using those pics that way previously.

but thanks for the input i might just do the under exposed pic of a over exposed and see how it turns out

or shoot RAW if you don't have a tripod handy.

Hello... while the picture is all "out of whack" as someone said, I see where you are going.

As a personal recomendation... or two: stay away from the overused HDR effect, it gets boring very soon. Of course, that's my personal preference. :)

and two.. if you use Lightroom, try the plugin called Enfuse for Lightroom, I really really like it for HDRI.

keep it up

i do not have lightroom, but ill see what i can do to get it tonight to play with. i get what your saying. if you start doing everything like hdr it gets boring. there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

I believe there is Enfuse as a stand alone thing, and it's actually open source, google for it, it's really worth it. The version for LR is just an interface for LR, but it calls the application in the background.

anyways, keep shooting!

You can do HDR hand held and get good results! You just have to make sure that your camera is set on AEB, snap the pics very quickly in succession, and stay very still.

This was hand held:

neverind i found it in my settings. it was set on 0, and i see you can change it to -1 1 or -2 2. does this set the camera up to shoot multiple shoots then at these different settings?

i really need to learn the ins and outs of this thing bad

edit: i just tried it out (sitting at my desk at work) and see how it works. that is very neat i may try that today if it isnt too cold out there.
