Hi,

I have a question about the display on the 40D. Coming from the XTi, I am used to looking at the LCD to view the info when changing f-stop, AV, TV, ISO, etc... during shooting.

However, I can't get this info to display on the 40D. Granted it is much easier to look at the display on the top of the camera, however when I shoot in low light (which is about 80% of my shots), I can't see the data up there as that panel isn't backlit. Is there a solution for this?

Many thanks.

A camera.

Why don't you hit the backlight button on the top to the left of the display. Its the one that looks like a light bulb. It will make the display on the top light up.

Matt.

It's just one of the things you'll have to get use to moving from a XTi. As mentioned, right next to the top panel is a button you can hit to light up the display. You can also set up the back display to give basically the same info as the XTi when you hit the info button, but it is not nearly as convenient as the XTi was. Take a look at page 168 of the manual. It shows what the info screen can display.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Why would you want it lit all the time? That's just draining the battery (although minimally) and for me is a distraction.

Av and Tv is on the dial anyway. I adjust for ISO, aperture and shutterspeed through the viewfinder. If I'm looking at the LCD to make adjustments, I'll just lose a lot of shots.

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.
