Isn't the angle of the lens to the sun to blame instead of the UV filter?

That too, but it always looks worse with a UV filter on it, one more thing for the light to reflect off of.(the coatings are never as good as the front element's). For the same reason you'll see threads pop up asking why flares are popping up when people do night photography, filters are more likely to flare up even with just regular street lights.

I also had the hood on, that didn't help much.

They say milk gives you strength...drink 3 glasses and try to move a wall...You Can't...But take 3 shots of vodka...And the wall moves on its own =D

Here is my first attempt at a HDR... didn't go for the psycho-psychedelic look here, just wanted a natural shot capturing the blue sky and the architecture of the building. Hopefully it isn't too bad!

Shot at f/11, bracketed around 1/30th with -2,-1,0,+1,+2. I don't know, is this not enough color?

I've had this lens for awhile but started to use it seriously in the last few days due to some poor light venues.

Thanks....

What freaked me out was the first 2 came out of the camera that way. I adjusted white balance and slightly increased contrast. Didn't touch anything else in ACR/CS5. Looks somewhat unreal.
