Better buy a 50L if your considering on dumping the 35L.

I'd use your 24-70L (set to 24mm) to see if that focal length jives with your style. Personally I would use a 35L or 50mm alot more than a 24mm FL.

I did a year with just the 24L II and the 85L II. It worked great, but I felt I needed something in between, so I got the 50L of a forum member. Something to take into consideration when deciding to sell the 35L for the 24L.

I have only used it a few times so far & haven't really put it through any tough shooting but I love it so far. I was *this* close to choosing the Sigma 20 1.8, which did an outstanding job, but there was just something about the feel of the 24L that made me make the jump. These are on my 40D.

Was pretty much as close as I could be without touching.

And just for colour a day later, same spot

sorry for the markings/bar on them, these were ones already web ready...

24L1.4II 135L2.0 and 300L2.8 .... with a 5DMKII I have akso a 50F1.4 that I almost never use.., between 85mm and 135mm it's just a matter of 2 or 3 steps backward .. and between 24mm and 50mm it's almost 2 or 3 steps frontward
300mm is an other story, but 135mm+TC1.4 can be a good way as a junction...

It seems not to be a major issue

"Distortion, or actually the lack of it, was the biggest surprise about this lens. To be precise, the distortion test did register barrel distortion, however at ~0.29% it should not cause problems to majority of users."

http://www.slrlensreview.com …l-ii-usm-lens-review.html (external link)

"The Canon EF 24mm f/1.4 L II USM Lens has a very minor amount of barrel distortion"

http://www.the-digital-picture.com …L-II-USM-Lens-Review.aspx (external link).

Anyway, I would say the use of such lens depends on people's own experience .. I almost never use my 50F1.4 (much too soft wide open for me) and I love 24L1.4II as a walkaround and night shots (Perfect sharpness, low CA, low distorsion)
With dpp+ptlens I get what I expect as results.

I am not a pro at all , so I don't need to get results to please people and give them what they expect.
