There weren't that much vignetting originally, but unfortunately I had underexposed the shot, and when brightening and increasing contrast the vignetting got really bad and I don't yet know how to fix it.

I wouldn't change a thing. The contrast is good, since in such an environment/lighting you'd be hard-pressed to get a "true black" anyway and the vignetting adds a little depth and character to the crazy weather.
