Awesome shot Wim. I love that B&W processing.

Awesome shot Wim. I love that B&W processing.

Thank you!

I deliberately underexposed this photograph in order to get the most out of the sky as possible, and processed the Raw for maximum tonal range at fairly high contrast. I was inspired by some 1950s or 1960s photographs I saw of the Porta Nigra in Trier, Germany, about 7 or 8 years ago, but wanted to avoid the contrast being so high that the dark parts would have no detail left. The weathering pattern of the natural stone used is very similar in both cases, and I wanted to bring this out as best as possible, while maintaining detail in the backdrop as viewed through the "window" created by the remains of the old draw bridge housing of the medieval part of the castle.

BTW, I posted another photograph of a different part of the castle with similar processing in the TS-E 17L thread, over here:

Kind regards, Wim

Uh... I think that's completely up to you. What's the 5Dc lacking that makes you want/need a back-up "crop" body? What do you shoot? If all you care for is something around 35mm FL, then it seems to be it'd be much cheaper and easier to just get the 35L. You'd get better DoF control (if you're into shallow DoF) with 35 + FF than with the 24 + crop.

But if you shoot professionally (get paid), then it would make sense and be wise to get a 2nd body to shoot with as a back up.
