Thanks for sharing your photos. I like the color and contrast.

The 100- 400 is definitely sharper as you back off the long reach. I'm lucky that mine is sharp throughout it's reach. You might consider having Canon adjust it for you. I think you would be very pleased with the results.

Take a look at an example of mine at 400 mm. with the 1.4 TC. I use a bean bag at times even while on a tripod to dampen the mirror slap.
