Hi.

Could anyone sugest me which Canon camera should I buy next? Have been shooting glamour for a couple of years with my 400D, now want to do some fashion too and have opotunity to change my old camera to something better. Want to buy camera that I'll be happy with even when finally will become professional in fashion photography :)

Have looked at 1D Mark2, can afford that, but maybe I don't really need such a super camera for fashion shoot?

Any sugestions?

Thanks a lot!

I shoot fashion - camera's not all that important, lighting and working the model are a million times more crucial in studio than what lens or body you use, but I use a 5D and 1D Mark III. It depends on your budget, but I wouldn't get a 1D Mark II. What do you find lacking about your current body? What lenses do you have?

I would go for one of the following: 5D, 1DsII, 1D Mark III, 1Ds Mark III, 5D Mark II.

You really don't need it. Your lens will be stopped down most of the time anyway, so it really doesn't matter at all. The 400D is fine - what lenses do you have?

Lighting, technique, creativity, and working the model. Those are what you should work on. Money is much better spent on some lighting equipment if you don't already have any.

I use 50mm f1.4 and 85mm f1.8 i have notices that it takes quite a few seconds to focus and get sharpen results aspecially when day light is poor. Plus, when i use speedlight camera take some time to recharge and get ready for nxt shot.

Your lenses are great, but a bit too similar in uses on a cropped sensor. Perhaps consider getting a 5D, I find the 50mm and 85mm focal lengths a lot more useful on a full frame camera for fashion than on a 1.6x crop. Plus the huge viewfinder helps so, so much. The 5D is my fashion camera of choice (even though the Mark 3 is frickin' awesome).

You could get some proper studio strobes if recharge times are an issue for you. Look into Alienbees or Elinchroms.

1. Buy 450D.
2. Use Live View.
3. Profit.

Oh you can use the viewfinder to take pictures. I'm just suggesting that you go through your daily life looking at the world through live view. It changes everything.
