I prefer the forums on POTN, however, the buy sell board
at FM is excellent. They have a nice selection of gear and
the feedback system works well...

with anything, you should use whatever tools are available
to you when buying/selling gear... whether that means ebay,
craigslist FM or here... but back to your question, yes I think it's
worth $25.

I thought you can signup for one month of $5 instead for a year.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like the color layout of FM. It kind of strains my eyes or something. On the other hand, I really like the layout of Photography on the net. $25 for the ability to sell stuff on FM turns me off too. I haven't sold much, but what I have sold here is usually sold pretty quickly. I don't like that we can't bump threads here - but bumping on an extremely busy site isn't great either.

POTN !!!

I did subscribe to it. Not much luck but I sold more items here though. Maybe because I am more active here than over there. More post counts....:)

FM is probably a bit more effective venue for selling more exotic high end equipment, but POTN is quite good as is Craigslist if you live in a major metropolitan area. I prefer not to sign up with FM as I don't like their rather heavy handed editorial policy.

worth it 100%. i buy and sell a LOT (i would say over 100k in the past year) and 99.9% of the stuff is sold on FM within a day or 2. i tried selling stuff here but had very little luck.

Everything you see in my sig (except strobes) were purchased on FM. I have sold a lot there as well. I have had nothing but good results. That isn't a comparative statement because I have never bought or sold here.

While I like the forums here the B&S at FM gets more traffic.
The feedback there is more readily accessable and all who trade there actually use it. For the items I have bought or sold here I have always left feedback however the return is about 20%.
The $25 fee weeds out the sell and disappear and seeing how you have to pay via credit card you can be tracked down. So scams are virtually nil. They also try to keep the "Buy/get rebate/sell down to a minmium.
I always list both places and have done much more at FM. (like 30/5 ratio)
I like browsing there better as well. While I dont particulary care for the colors The bumps are nice. Yes you slip of the front page but you find that the currently active sales are no further than about page 4. I have had a few tiems that took a while to move and it never got past page 4 there while I was buried so deep here no one would look to page 50+. There is the arguement of "use the search" Well being the compulsive buyers we are I dont always know what i want but I browse and if I see something that I want and its a good deal Ill go for it. Here I seldom go past the first few pages.

Also I dont understand the editorial policy issue???

I do prefer the general forums here but the B&S at FM is far ahead for finding items if you are a buyer and selling them if you are selling. (The ability to keep the same thread open and list multiple items and edit the title as things sell goes a long way)
