I got one of the 30" eBay light tents on the way (figured it's easier, cleaner, more portable than making my own), but I wanted to know if the nylon is fragile enough to melt from a flash strobe.

I had an old red umbrella from Totes (yes a regular rain umbrella) to test for lighting accents. Needless to say, the Speedlight puffed two small holes in the umbrella.

How close are you putting the flash?!?

I wouldn't think you'd want the flash that close to the tent anyways. You'd have to have them pretty much touching the nylon to melt it, and that would result in not getting much diffusion of your lights.

The flash was about 1ft away from the Totes umbrella.
