I am looking to buy a backup but mainly buying it because of the 1.6x crop to give me the extra reach if I need it while still having auto focus with the 100-400.

So I am just curious what type of prices I am looking at for used 20D or 30D
Is there and advantage to the 30D over the 20D?

Just so you know, you can crop the 5DII image to 1.6x and still have a useable image...someone did the math and found that the image would still be around 7MP. The 8MP on a 30D isn't much of an improvement.

So I guess 20D since it's cheaper, unless you can't stand the 1.8" LCD or shutter noise.

And if I have 200-300 images I would have to do that all day long.
I think I rather get the camera.

Is $360 USD a fair price for a 30D?
I find the 20D`s in this area for pretty much the same price so I am just wondering.

30D advantages:

2.5" screen
Larger buffer
Spot metering
ISO is in the screen (bugs the heck out of me on my 20D)
Picture Styles

so is the $360 a reasonable price? Not sure how many clicks it has but I was told something in between 6000 and 10 000. It also has a serial number that starts with 072.

Good point.

I see 30D's usually going for 400-450 USD...so I'd be wary of 360 CDN.

Not a lot of difference between the 20D and 30D.. Either will do the job..

Out of the 2, I'd go for the 30D. If nothing else, the larger screen means you won't have to squint when looking at it. Spot metering is nice too.
