I just spent a week in the south island, landing in Christchurch and driving to Queenstown via the west coast and back via the east coast. Christchurch presented me with rain both times I was there.. something I am not used to right now :)

anyway, here's a few.... not really after critique, just want to share. Having said that, if you see some PP that could help, feel free !

1. TSS Earnslaw .. going strong since 1912

2. The Earnslaw again.

3. From the side of the road between Queenstown and Ashwood ... there are two locations from Lord of the Rings in this shot.

4. The cathederal from Cathederal Square, Christchurch. It was raining, which was annoying and great at the same time, been a while since I have seen it rain.

5. The Earnslaw again... you may get the idea I like it !

6. The Remarkables near Queenstown .. and a boat

I do have more, but they need processing. Eventually I will get them put up on the website

Very nice, 2 and 3 are great, nice composition.
2 is something a little bit different and unique, while 3 is just a classic South Island post card.

I drove around there in May 2007, and it rained for 10 days of the 10 days I was there.

Thanks guys. I was taking so many shots, I got a little overexposed ( had to say it !! ) and stopped taking them for a day or two.
I actually got a lot of joy at the wet. As we are all aware, we could use some here. In fact, most of the shots exhibit a little haze which the locals tell us was from the fires in Aus.

We have had some fantastic sunsets here, but given what caused them, and how much saddnes goes with that, I have actually avoided shooting them.

On a happier note, I have never seen the catherdral shot like that before. Most people focus only on the tower, and go for a more isometric angle.
I quite like your take on it.

Thanks. I only did a couple more, but the rain and the drunken @holes coming from the bars in the area tipped me over and I went to the hotel to sleep instead !

I agree with the weather statements...looking at Jim Hicky always saying the Highs and Lows...I have to wonder. Racing down Sth in nothing but Rain.

Although in 98 in snowed at Cardrona on Jan 1st!!!! Cold Racing that day

Nice shots by the way

I have always found NZ weather to be relatively clear... I know ..it's just the luck of it. I have been to NZ about 5 times over the years ( usually north island ) and this is the first rain I have had.
