Who thinks it would be worth it to just sticky a few very common questions? I must see a new "Should I get a 24-70 2.8 or 24-105 IS" at least three times a day. I must see a "Should I get the 70-200 2.8 or the 4?" at least once day...

Yes, people can and should search, but obviously that's not happening... Could we just stick a few of the questions that are asked multiple times a day and be done with it?

What other questions do you think are asked way too much?

People don't read the stickies either. Best to just be courteous.

And there would be much sticky's then... so many, that you would go to page 4 to read the first new post :-)

The current stickies already have FAQs that point to other faqs.

There's nothing stopping users from using the search function, it's there for a purpose you know...

Yea but sadly it is missed by a lot of people because its buried away in a menu. It happens on every vbulletin forum I've ever used. Now if the search box was always open and up in the top right corner it would get a lot more usage.

But that's a problem for the vbulletin developers to fix and not POTN.

Huh? There's a search button at the top of the page. It's not exactly difficult to spot.

Every question asked on this forum is repeated all the time. Without the direct contact by asking, many people would never learn and grow. How often do you think a unique thread is created in this forum? Once a week maybe?

I never understood the issue regarding repeated posts. If you don't want to reply to it, don't click on it.

If you feel the obligation ... start a thread and then just link all "repeat" inquires to your thread. Continually edit the first post with common questions and answers or links to answers ... then sit back and watch the views soar.

don't act like you're not impressed ...

I don't mind so much the repeat posts. But I think it would also be nice to have a little tutorial detailing the search function (search by title name only etc...) as part of the registration.

but, i think with forums you have to be careful how much you push the search function and critize the reposts -- otherwise, some people may be afraid to post a new topic.

overall though, I think theres enough people on POTN to handle the repeat posts and for others to ignore them
