OK, he's not alone. There was me :D. As I walking around Yosemite Valley last weekend, I happend upon this photographer taking photos of Half Dome. I thought the scene seem a bit whimsical and I took a quick shot (without him noticing, I think). What do you think?

Cool shot. Like the snow piled on the branches.

That was me a few weeks ago in Sequoia National Park. Gotta find a good method to stabilize the tripod in fluffy snow.

He wouldn't put so much pressure on his back if he had a camera with live view. :p

By the way, really nice image!

Ha, nice catch.

I like the fact that the lone shooter is basically the only splash of color in the frame.

It's just so a pity he wasn't wearing 'Kodak Red'.

Okay that was a joke! :D

But quite a few years ago I was at a judging session at my local Camera Club when a spectacular landscape image (not mine I hasten to add) came up on the screen it was the best picture on the night by miles, everything was perfect, the exposure was perfect, it had 'lead in' furrowed lines, a fantastic sky, fantastic foreground and on the third was a tractor (which was blue pulling a plough). There was something on every level to appreciate.

The Judge marked it down because a) it would have been better if the tractor had been a horse, and b) because if it had to be a tractor it should have been red!

I stopped listening after that!

ROFL...

Another reason why competitions sometimes just aren't worth the trouble.

Yeah, that's effect I wanted in the scene. I was almost going to experiment with B&W (new to me), but then color of his clothes seems to stand out nicely. -Wes

Chantu,

Do the Mule Deer bucks in Yosemite still have their antlers?

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I don't know too much about animals, but I think I saw only one deer (without antlers) while I was up there. Certainly, this guy didn't have antlers :D He happen to lead us up to the Yosemite Lower Falls.

A bear in snow - what a treat you had! But he really should still be in hibernation, at that elevation.

Fantastic shot.

I'm aching to go to Hokkaido (the northern "lump" of Japan) to catch a bear, but Missus Skygod says we've to save more Yen for a trip to England first! Damn our sensible wives!!!!

That's amazing to see a bear out in the dead of winter up there!!! I haven't seen one in that park for years and I go up every year at least once or twice. Lucky you1

Yeah, I consider myself really fortunate. Bears were the last thing my mind when we went up there. I thought bears hibernate for the winter!
