Hi all, did a wee photo shoot at the weekend after having a bit of fun with my mk2 golf daily. Need to get out and do more with the camera as I still haven't got the hang of it fully yet and need to get another tripod as mine has broken. Hoping to find some cool urban locations and some graffiti around the glasgow area after a few more small changes to the car. Anyway heres the pics, constructive c+c is very welcome.

Its not meant to be flawless and glossy. Its a "rat-rod" style look to it. AKA busted up, but tastefully.
Nice shots.

I like the attempt. But it must be a thing with VW guys. They only do the hood and think it is rat. To me it is very poser-ish. If you want it, go all the way. Not just one panel. /rant

Intentionally rusty hood, bumper falling off on one side, and intentionally mismatched wheel colors DO NOT = a rat rod, it's just lame, especially since it's slow and has no suspension travel and definitely isn't going to surprise anyone with the performance. It's sad too because otherwise it looks like a clean car.

Do yourself a favor and spend a few bucks on some black spraypaint and go over the wheels and hood before you venture out into public again.

BTW I'm not trying to be insulting, I'm offering constructive criticism whether or not certain people have the taste to acknowledge it...

looks great. i like the hood. and the multi coloured wheels. the style is to have a slight rat style, not total. the cars too new still to have a total rat style.
most rat rods have minimal suspension.....
you have no idea whats under that hood so yes it could surprise you. how do you know theres not a VRT under that hood pushing 400whp?
lots of them around that have vr's and stomp big v8s

If you do have one, then the worst it looks, the better! OTOH, if you don't, then it's just someones junker? :D

I like these.

Look at doing something with the reflection in the wind screens, I think. Reflections can be difficult to control, but they tend to catch the eye too quickly, and must be managed so as not to distract. Work angles, get a good CPL, and lots of fun with photoshop to clear that up.

I have no comment on the car. If it makes you happy, that makes me happy! :)

Thanks guys, I know its not everyones cup of tea. Its only an 8v gti. I bought this car as a run a round while my other mk2 is being restored and although the pics are kind to it it is a bit of a dog. Theres not much that hasn't been done to a mk2 golf and being original is very difficult. The whole theme of this car is about having fun and trying out ideas that I would never dream of doing to my good one. It brings a smile to my face every time I see it and is a joy to drive, its fitted with fk silverline x fully adjustable coilovers so even though it sits very low its not too harsh a set up. I would love to go full rat and have a vr6t or 2.0l 16v on throttle bodies but this is my cheep daily and to get this look including buying the car has cost me under £800. So to all the haters :D take a chill pill, its all just a bit of fun. I drive a van most of the day, run my own company and generally have a pretty stressful life therefore I need a little madness and fun to balance myself out.

Anyway this forum is all about the photographs and I hope to get better in the future with lots of practise and trying out different stuff.
