Hey, don't feel bad. I did the same thing last year when I was trying to shoot flowers with my 70-200 - I thought for sure there was something wrong with it. ;)

Yeah, I forgot where I had set that switch on my 100-300 this weekend and I thought I was having problems too.

Just a quick "props" to Lon at FlashZebra. I ordered a set of Cybersyncs last week (prompted by my low-light shooting at a party), and needed some hardware and an adapter for my 430EX. I ordered the stuff Friday...just got home from work, and it's already here.

Hopefully the CS will follow soon. I can't wait to start experimenting with off-camera flash. :D

Quick one from today. It was just above freezing today. Models were out there just suffering from the cold, there was no way I was making them do swimwear. I'm trying out a different kind of toning for these shots, there are better, but I liked this one enough to experiment with it first:

PGe, not too sure about the magenta cast on the white shirt...but, maybe that's what you were goin' for? I dunno. And the red seems a bit much, too. ??? Otherwise, nice. ;)

Hey all, it's time for us to show our friend Perry some moral support!

His old thread "Wah wah my 430 is malfunctioning" was dying a quiet, ignominous death, and a mod announced he was closing it for lack of interest, when Perry found out and single-handedly succeded in getting it resurrected.

The original thread is here:

https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=455916

And, you can see how Perry skillfully managed to manipulate the mods into reopening his thread here:

https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=670022

Soon after, and I'll take a little credit, the original thread got moved from the flash group to the Lounge, where a whole new gang of forumers can catch the fun:)!

for that pano i just used photomerge in cs4. i usually use photostitch, but i wanted to see how it came out, and it looks good to me, and made my workflow much easier.

I had read that thread before, but never made the connection. Did the mods really give him the Energizer bunny avatar? I imagine if they did, it's unchangeable, like the "title" thing. :)

I can't gloat by any means though. I've made stupider mistakes, and continue to on a weekly basis. :p

I'm not really seeing that here, Manish. The magenta cast, maybe? Looks pretty white at the collar though. And I'm not seeing the red problem? Unless you mean his face; it looks a bit red.

Time to calibrate the monitor?

I love her expression. :)

I calibrated mine the other day, after the shoot. Where I see the cast is along his shirt, by her face. It's a slight purple color, and carries through on the shirt, although faint. As for the red, he could just be a very 'red' person..but, noticeably his ear, and arm...but, maybe they just are that color. ???

That's all I see...but, maybe it's his attempt at cross-processing colors...so, I'm not sure. Perry will have to divulge some more info. here.

Rikan Havok, sucks to hear about your gear. I hate the effects of wind on lightstands. This is why I now lug bags of rocks, and set them down on the legs of the stand. Sucks to have to do it, but, it's the only way I know. While the Sun is good, within the shot, and she's exposed properly...I dunno if the Sun is a bit much? Anyone else care to comment on that?

man I was trying to rig the entire thing, but then I took the umbrella of and said screw it .. I didn't think the wind was strong enough to just tip the light stand but it happen .. I will learn from this experience and invest in some portable sand bags or something .. I'll call PCB tomorrow and see what can they do .. they are under a month old which really sucks man ...

Anyways about the picture .. you don't like it cause the suns is to strong? is cool just say so .. :p .. everyones opinion is value .. I have like 50 shoots and I don't like many .. I was shooting with a ab400 after that happen and wasn't to happy with the lighting ...

this was a horrible picture on the 5D screen but when I came home it looked decent ..

I just think that the model gets lost in the Sun spot. Maybe if she had it half covered? I like the processing, and all...just not 100% on the Sun spot, yet. I'm still thinkin'

Well, all, have a great night. Time for some sleep...and another day tomorrow. ;)
