Cybersyncs work better with the Bees and White Lightning systems...so, maybe you can sell the skyports, unless you are looking to switch to Elinchroms anytime soon?

The skyports sync slower than other triggering devices. I'd try 1/160th, and see if it still happens.

Not with speedlite type flashes. I use 1/300th with my 1D (max sync speed) and don't have any issues with my skyports.

Nope. Sticking with the bees. I wish I had know this about the skyports. I bought them second hand and this was the first I'd used them. Oops. Well, if they work at 1/160 that'll be ok for me (I think).

Rightly so, but, with bees they've been known to sync slower. And a 1D is diff. than a 5D...so, I believe that's where the difference may come into play.

1/160th should be fine...but, let us know your results, SF. ;)

Yeah with strobes I shoot at 1/160 on the 5D, 1/200 on the 1D3, I think I can even get away with 1/250.

But, I'll share a pic of my last shoot with you because I can. :D

Sorry about the light issue....I've only got the one bee so far.

I'd like to get a strobe eventually but there are so many to choose from with different strengths and weaknesses.

Thanks!

My flame process:

I used a strip of special roofing tape on the bat...it was basically foil with adhesive on it but you can use duct tape as well.

I put rubber cement on that....pretty liberally and it needed to be wet.

Added a match.

Presto! Flamage! :D

Yep....real fire. :D We were safe....I had a fire extinguisher and a signed liability release. And, the bat wasn't as close to his head as it looks.

Lonnie was right, you are a dangerous woman!
*Great shot and a clever flame execution.*
Was this indoors?
How did you handle the burning cement smell and smoke?

I'd like to get a strobe eventually but there are so many to choose from with different strengths and weaknesses.

There's basically the 'expensive,' 'middle,' and the 'cheap.' Elinchroms are great, but, expensive. White Lightnings are good, and are in the middle, price wise. Alienbees are good too, and are on the cheaper side, price wise. Personally, I like the white lightnings, and use a grey card, so I don't see the color cast issues that people speak of, with the Paul C Buff products. Regardless, in the scheme of things, it takes a couple of seconds to correct WB anyway. Calumet Genesis lights, of Elinchrom 400BX's are pretty good too...it's just their modifiers are $$'s, and then, you always have the itch to go the 600RX route. As Jay...he'll tell you. ;)

Of course, there's super expensive, like Broncolor, and EC Pack/Heads, Profoto Pack/heads, but man, I don't make that kinda money. :(
