The Rebels are still too big to be worth it for pure portability reasons IMO, especially since Canon glass isn't exactly compact. I wish Canon would make a really compact DSLR like the Olympus E-420, or even something like Micro four-thirds.

Mr. Clean, the F4IS is still in the house too. It's just that good. The owl shot was at 1/40th...the combination of the (3rd generation?) IS, the light weight and sharpness/IQ made me a fan of it. The bokeh is lovely with it but you have to be pretty close to your subject to get it that OOF. However if you need 2.8 it obviously wouldn't work...but I wish canon would have updated their 2.8 when they did the F4IS.

I agree. Canon's 'new-gen' optics are really, really good.

no, I sold it after I sold the 5D & got the M3. It was too long on the M3 for the portrait shoots I was doing. At least for my style of shooting. At the time I'd thought about picking up the 50L but after using the Chief's copy, I wasn't really keen on that lens either. I cannot remember who bought it...I can't remember who bought half the gear I've sold around here.

I don't like the rebel series bodies. Too small. I wish I knew more before getting mine.

Agreed. I have a feeling the XSi is going to sit home once I have the 5D. Either one is too big for casual shooting anyway, and I have a P&S that never gets used as it is.

I just got an email from Adorama, and it shipped! :) Will be here Friday. :D
Sorry, I'm excited.

I was afraid Adorama would run out before I bought one. Used 5Ds are selling in the $1200-1300 range, if that helps you, but I figured I'd rather have a refurb for a little bit more.

Well, we went through about 300 posts that day, leading up to the 10k mark, then kept rolling into this one. Fun was had, virtual drinks were on the house!

My sharpest combo is the 5D + 100mm f2.8 Marco USM. I think this pairing is about as good as it gets.
