The Rebels are still too big to be worth it for pure portability reasons IMO, especially since Canon glass isn't exactly compact. I wish Canon would make a really compact DSLR like the Olympus E-420, or even something like Micro four-thirds.

It's just that good. The owl shot was at 1/40th...the combination of the (3rd generation?) IS, the light weight and sharpness/IQ made me a fan of it. The bokeh is lovely with it but you have to be pretty close to your subject to get it that OOF. However if you need 2.8 it obviously wouldn't work...but I wish canon would have updated their 2.8 when they did the F4IS. I agree. Canon's 'new-gen' optics are really, really good. Mike

It was too long on the M3 for the portrait shoots I was doing. At least for my style of shooting. At the time I'd thought about picking up the 50L but after using the Chief's copy, I wasn't really keen on that lens either. I cannot remember who bought it...I can't remember who bought half the gear I've sold around here. .. It's Permie's world, we just live in it! ~CDS

Either one is too big for casual shooting anyway, and I have a P&S that never gets used as it is. REXTi wrote in post #7406194 i made it to page 9 then said hell im just going to post. I REALLLLLLLLLLYYYYYY NEED TO SAVE UP THE $1400 FOR THE 5D! haha. it should compliment my 24-70L that comes in tomorrow quite nicely. I was afraid Adorama would run out before I bought one. Used 5Ds are selling in the $1200-1300 range, if that helps you, but I figured I'd rather have a refurb for a little bit more.
