Losing lenses to gain a body is never a great idea, IMO. And 50mm is "normal" on a 5D...actually a lot wider than you might think, if you've never shot FF. Pin your 17-55 at 31mm and decide if you can live with it.
And losing a 200L and a 17-55? Ouch. As much as I love the 5D, I'd have to say I wouldn't do it.

If you do anyway, I can highly recommend the Tamron 28-75 2.8 as a budget FF normal zoom. I say it all the time on these forums, but I love mine.

Well, let me explain. I originally shot the 17-55 and the 200L on my 40D. The 200 is too long for what I do. The 17-55 was great, but coming from a 28 1.8 and 100 2.0 before that, it left something to be desired. I don't really need the IS either.
That lead me to what I have now...the 17-40L and 50L. The plan was to get them and then sell the 17-55 and 200L. I just haven't done it yet, because the 17-55 will be used for a wedding next month.
I 'll make it real easy for you... don't sell that 200mm, it's a great lens.
Sell everything else.
Does that help?

If your 50mm is coming up short on the 40D, it's going to get shorter.
_______________
I do like the images from the 200, it just doesn't get used.
The 50mm hasn't come up short yet. I could get by with the 17-55 only on my 40D. I just don't know if I can get by with 50 as my longest on FF.
SO, the summary of this all is, the 17-55 IS and the 200 are going regardless, whether I'm on a 40D or FF. I'm not giving up lenses to buy a 5D. I'm giving up lenses for other lenses...

I know im jealous. Im "yearning" for a 35L or a 50L. (im glad the 35Ls aren't in stock hehe)
.... I know I couldn't give up L prime goodness for a zoom. im just offering other options haha.
