^^^ I quite like the last shot! I think that I also have a hard time figuring out what compositions in "my back yard" would be of interest to others. I think that it's all too easy to take for granted the small things that make your part of the world interesting to people from different parts of the world.
Thank you! Yes, it's not as easy as it seems to "document" your home town. Since I enjoy seeing other people's photos of their towns I'll continue doing it and try and improve on the choice of subjects, composition etc., so that they become more interesting from an artistic POV.

Helena...it's not worth it to feel that way. You have a 'hobby' that you enjoy...and you enjoy it every moment you can. You share pictures, and it's appreciated. Never feel that you can't share something, because it's not at a certain 'level.' I don't feel anyone in here is running a competition. It's just an admirers thread, where some are more advanced users, than others. But, we all share each others' 'experiences' more than anything.

Thank you Manish! You're right - I shouldn't compare myself with others, but it's hard not to sometimes.

Helena, sometimes I don't comment because I either don't have time or don't know what to say or am just not in the mood. I'm pretty new at this so sometimes I leave commenting to people that know better.
Saying that, your photos are incredibly sharp. Yes all but the tree (which would rightfully be called gnarley), are a little snapshotish but honestly who cares? They're great shots of your home town and while they might not be on the wall of some rich dude's house I'm happy you shared a bit of your life with me.
As far as I'm concerned you can post anything you like, you don't even have to be proud of it (take a look at my last photo of vignetting).
Thank you Geno! You're new at this!? You're kidding, right? Seriously, I honestly thought that you were one of the pros here. Same with Tiffany. I haven't seen much of your work Tiffany, but what I have seen was very impressive.
Geno, you mention sharpness; do you feel that they are oversharpened, or was it a positive remark? The originals are super sharp (I'm beginning to think that this "new" 5D is even sharper than my first one!), but when I resize I find it hard to get the same naturally sharp look.

I love this! The others are nice...incredible colors.
And, I know how you feel. My stuff isn't up there with the rest but I'm ok with that.

Thank you Tiffany! See more comments in my reply to Geno above.

The only amateurish shots I ever see in this thread are my own.

I love the PJ shots. It may just be my un-calibrated work monitor, but I really like the feel of the colors.
The shot of the bike repair shop is really cool too. Great colors.
Thank you very much Brett! I have found that the 35L gives very pleasant colors. Saturated without being overly so. More natural the the ones I get from my 17-40L (but I still like that lens a lot).

Helena,
First and foremost this is a 5D enjoyment thread. In my opinion we can't get much enjoyment if we don't post pics....so post away! Your shots are fine.
Just always remember....when you see shots that may be above your current level.....the tog that took them was at the same point you are now at one point.
We are all human, we all put our pants on one leg at a time.....we all stumble and we all fall. It is fellowship with other like minded humans that allow us to feel welcome, to learn and to grow....
So please share your work with us....your struggles with us...and your victories with us!
Thank you Jon! Wow, the people in the 5D thread are the nicest on the entire POTN, I think.
