This has been a quiet April Fool's day for POTN. Last year was ridiculous.

Glad you think so...

Here's the photo I posted earlier and a new darker version. What say you?

Getting those mountains to stand out a bit more is nice...I hate it when I shoot with hazy backgrounds!

Welcome to the North West Side of the continent, eh? :) You know, I cannot get a clear shot of the mountains here at any time of the year. It's starting to bug me...

Yeah -- Mount St. Helens is terrible -- permanent haze, so you can be standing 5 miles away from the center of the crater and you are still shooting through haze.

Maybe a GND over the mountain would help, although that's always seemed weird to me (it throws me off when I get to a word like weird, that doesn't follow the "i before e" rule).

I had an 8 stop ND and a polarizer on. I almost bought a GND awhile ago but decided that I'd do it via software for now.

Is one method actually any better than the other?

I don't know, 'cause I have just never actually messed with my GNDs. I don't get out and do that much landscape photography much these days so it's always the one thing I forget to do:)! It'd be at least worth trying with a shot like yours, I'd think.

Bring 'em up!

BTW, I just saw on the news it snowed here today. I thought the rain looked a little thick at times.

Jeeez I can't wait until they invent a way to ship things instantly through teleportation...

I don't know if I've ever been so excited waiting for camera gear as I am waiting for my 5D and grip to come. It's been 24 hours since I bought it, and I feel like it should certainly be here by now.

I NEED to get my 50L on it and get out of the apartment soon. School has been dragging me down hardcore...

I have a shoot I need to schedule in the next week or so with an 800+ HP 2005 CTS-V. I'm really hoping I get to use the 5D to do it.

I added the 5D to my signature before I had it too.

Just be patient, and hope you don't get a back-focusing copy like I did.
