S'OK. :)

I put a couple of B&W conversions and a couple of different shots into the Vancouver Street photo thread if you ever get over that way.

Nice. I wanted to try something different so I brought a couple of gels, flashes and a diffuser. I set up low on the sidewalk, about 3 feet from the statue. How far away were you? No EXIF on your image so I can't see your settings.

Thanks for the compliment!

I believe there is EXIF on my image.:):)

G'morning/G'night (where ever you are). ;)

Lovely Pics all. Geno, some nice street candids you got there. Scottnz, nice sunset. Hoow many birds can you count in that shot?

Not quite the 85L, but, a 400L. 5D + 400L, ISO 200, 1/640th, @f-5.6. I dunno why, but, Smugmug strips the exif for some reason? Anyone know why, or how to get it to show?

A Sandhill Crane.

Really lovely shot Manish. I love the 400L on the 5D - look at how that bird is rendered, the detail, the background - coupled with a talented photographer like yourself and you have the perfect recipe for success :D.

Thanks Perry. 'Talented?' haha...it's the camera and lens! ;)

As for the pic of the crane, that too was FF. No cropping, at all. ;) Thus, I couldn't get the legs in the frame.

Just talked to Canon Denmark to check up on the mirror issue. The official policy for Canon Europe is to wait for the mirror to fall off, THEN fix it for free, regardless of age/warranty.

They said that extremely few cameras were affected as there had been a few "bad" batches of glue. This also meant that the affected cameras were scattered over time and all over the world, so no certain range of serial numbers were affected.

Bottom line: Not much reason to worry, but europeans doesn't get the free tuneup & cleaning unless the mirror falls off.

I've got a tropical zoo (external link) about 45 minutes from where I live. Hot & humid... I think I'll get up there as soon as I have the time, then spend a battery or two shooting burst. If my mirror stays put, yay, I'm safe. If it falls off I get a free fix & cleaning.

^ That's the impression I got too spook. I've heard very few cases of the mirror falling off, but it has been documented. Good on Canon to address a minority issue so well.

Finally. Phew! ;) Good luck with it.

Perry...I needed a bigger sensor, not to cut the legs out of the frame. That's just horrible composition, on my part.

Well, I've posted this before in various places, but dang, since this thread is starting a new life, I'll do it again:).

I set out (some time ago) to do some birding with the 5D mounted with the 300 f/2.8 IS and a 2x TC...pretty tough on IQ, but I was able to get some usable stuff:
