Serious halo around her head, looks like from dodging. Otherwise, very nice.

It was a really cool storm! Here's two more.

Nice catches of the Lighting Strikes. Especially the first one. :)

The Captain and crew finally got their stuff together, now if we can only remember where we left it.

Howdy ya'll! We had a cool lightning storm last night so I thought I would try to catch a few shots. Here's the very first frame and and I think it came out the best.

Anybody else attempt lightning shots?

Great shots, we had some similar storms a week or so in Grass Valley.
We're about two hours or so south of you in the Sierra foothills.
I tried to get a few shots, but they didn't turn out as well.

used the patch tool for those fun dirt spots. increased contrast and saturation using curves, levels and saturation/vibrance. burned some of the clouds to emphasize the lightning and edges of the menacing looking clouds. applied a little bit of sharpening and voila.

Here's my take on crashing's photo. Shawn's had some pixelation that I would consider excessive in the center, most likely due to pushing the purple a hair too far.

Thanks Ballen and cbh76! cb, that was probably the same storm system, I basically treated the lightning like an off camera flash and used the apeture to get the right exposure, the shutter speed was at 30" and I just "sprayed and prayed"!

Mel, great edit. I'm going to have to sit down and mess with photoshop!

Thanks again for the nice compliments!

Borrowed a 100-400 for shooting Formula Offroad this weekend. Shot 842 images in total and have only just begun the processing. But I'm pretty sure I'll have to do a HUGE print of this one:

...and my next zoom will be the 100-400. Man it was great for this kind of action!
