Once in a blue, blue moon...

These are from Martinsville, VA in 2008 and yes, they're 5D worthy (with the 100-400)

Here's one more, of Jackie. I believe this one is better than the last. ;) Feel free to say it's not though...I'm all ears. :)

is a CPL required for this type of exposure? i can never get the sky and foreground to both expose like yours did.

yes that shot was taken with a CPL on. The foreground was opened up in PP as I didn't use any GND filters.

Here is one without any filters with overcast.

Awww, those are adorable! Great shots.

Visiting the sister-in-law this evening... The 5D stayed at ISO 1250, the 50L at F/1.4 and the flash stayed in the bag.

I'm loving the 50L already, but I need to do a bit of sharpness testing at various apertures one of these days. Or maybe I should just stop down more... Helena, how do these shots look to you? All are ISO 1250 and F/1.4 with mild sharpening. I think I might just be an obsessive pixel-peeper but these puppies cost 2000$ here in Denmark so I want to make sure I get nothing but the best possible shots from it.

I have NO complaints about the contrast, colors or bokeh from it tho... And the build... man, it's nice! It's like they shrunk The Keg and gave it usable AF and cut the MFD in half

Isn't it wonderful? I couldn't be happier with mine. I have tried it with macro tubes now and got great results.

It's hard to judge from web sized photos, but yours looks fine! On close objects mine isn't as sharp as 35L, probably because of the shift, but sharp enough so the shift must be microscopic. As soon as I move back a few steps it's crazy sharp at all apertures. Even sharper than 35L, and then there is the delightful colors and contrast...

Glad you like it!

Thank you Tiffany!

Beautiful! That's a Zebra Finch, I think? (Sorry if the name has already been posted.) People keep them in cages here. A friend had a few and they even got babies. So you have wild ones where you live?

Helena, I see you're lovin' that 50L!

I sure do. :) Thank you for posting some samples before - those are what made me take the chance and get one myself. Photos from it reminds me of the ones I get from 135L, only wider.

I think I just might be in love with my 50L. These are pretty much straight out of the camera, only PP is b&w and a crop.

Just sold my 50 1.4 - Hands down the smartest choice when it comes to canon 50mm lenses. The 50L is not much sharper, it's just "different". But in a good way :)

Nice shots. I like the b&w effect. It looks very classy.

Thanks - These shots were Tri-X film on Kentmere Art Classic paper, faked in the AndyPro plugin for Bibble. Love that plugin!

Been there, done that.

I have the 85 1.8 but don't use it as much as I should... Cracking lens, no doubt but I see a 135L in my future lineup...

I have a thing for primes as well, I haven't owned any zooms for some time now. But I shot some racing in the weekend with the 100-400... Oh boy.
