I wish my 5D would be fixed already!! The mirror came off during the last week of my holiday, so I sent it in to Canon for reparation.

Somehow, I still have no clue how they could've missed it, but they've actually managed to send it back to me WITHOUT a mirror at all!!!

The waiting can start all over again :(

I have a question, and maybe someone has an answer.

When you use a 580EX or 430EX on the hot-shoe, and turn the camera to Av or Tv mode, why does the sync speed, or aperture, go straight to the max? Here's how the cam. and flash are set up:

1) Camera in Av or Tv mode.
2) 580 EX on Manual, with HSS turned ON, at any power level.

Check the shutter speed or the aperture (with one or the other modes) and notice that they are displaying the max value (SS = 1/8000th, or Aperture at f/16 on the 85L). If I switch the Camera to Manual, or the flash out of HSS mode, then, all is well.

I'm puzzled. ???

Sounds like a bug...? Mine is happy as a clam, shooting HSS in AV all the time :)

Weird thing, I tried it on 3 cameras. The 2 5D's and the 1Ds2. All have the same behavior. ???

Got a list of the CFn's you have set on the 580?

Yep... somewhere... :D

Found it! I did a pdf not too long ago, printed it, laminated it, carry it in my bag: Http://www.bagkameraet.dk/stuff/580EXii.pdf (external link) :)

^^ Gonna post them up, so I can compare? Otherwise, once I send the 5D to Canon for the mirror fix, I will ask them to check it out. ;)

this happens to me as well at points I just thought it was a "bug" because it always happens on teh job and I normally turn cam and flash off and on and then it seems fine and if not i go to another setting. now you have made me think about it. so I need to check it :( Its just one of those things I have forgotten when back with the images.....

Very nice shot of the bride Geno and I love it. The little hair is a little distracting but that's not your fault.

I was thinking about cloning it out but obviously didn't. Maybe I should...

Really nice work. Some of those are just stunningly good. I don't know how I missed your bride shot earlier (this thread moves fast!), but it's beautiful.

Were you the primary shooter on this?

A job well done Geno. Many great shots and I especially like the one with the bride holding the baby in the air. :D

Thanks, Brett. Yes, I was not only the primary, I was the only. It was a last minute call, the wedding started outside at sunset. I was a little worried but figured it'd be good experience for me.
