Sorry, I really don't mean to endorse that lens. I have borrowed one from a mate since I might be able to afford one but after shooting it for a couple of days, my money stays in the bank. I'll be keeping my 85 1.8 in stead :)

My wife's paternal grandfather having a smoke: (85L Mk II)
My father in law (and OOF mother in law) (50mm F/1.4)

Spook, those shots are great. What is it that does not sit right with the 85L? Is it the F/L?

Here is a shot of one of the residents of Chestatee Wildlife Preserve. He is one of 2 chimps that had been rescued by the great folks there at Chestatee. He is in a little outdoor nook that is part of their total area he and,it appeared to be, one other chimp inhabited.

Thanks - No it's not the FL. Love my 85 1.8. It's the weight, size, bulk and price and the fact that the AF speed seems to be stuck in "Molasses" speed. I have the dough but I just plain don't like the lens. Don't see much difference in the images between it and my 1.8. Sorry to say it, I'm sure it's a great lens but it's not for me.

I have been eying the 1.8, as the size, price, and IQ are all quite attractive. At the same time I will prolly be getting the 50 1.4 too. Just need a little bit of what some call patience.

To HELL with patience, max out your credit and get those lenses! They are awesome and they REALLY come to life on the 5D!

When my wallet found out I had gotten into photography it ran away screaming.

I chased it down and clubbed it to death with my carbon fiber tripod.

You should get the 1200mm 5.6. You could take shots of birds in Buffalo

Or alternatively, I could buy every Canon body and L lens ever made instead for cheaper .
