Inspired by a pic on a local photo club in my city. Thought I would give it a try. Let me know what you think.

I like it. I like the grouping of the crystals and that there's nothing to give a sense of scale to show what this is without the title.

I think one thing that you should try if you do this again is try a very strong side light to see if you can get just the outline of the crystals with a lot of depth.

So is the title indicative of the subject being sugar crystals? What lens was used to shoot this?

Some better lighting would make them more defined.


Canon -> A1, 1D (gone), G10, XT IR, 7D and some glass of various lengths and colors

You are correct... is was sugar crystals. I will play some more as I did have a worklight shining from the side onto the crystals but it was a white flourescent light rather than the brighter halogens. Will keep working, thanks for the feedback!
