That's Puffins In Flight. These shots were all taken on a day trip to the Farne Islands off the north-east coast of England.

For dumpy birds, these chaps manage to get up quite a speed and certainly tested my panning ability as they shot past. The wings whirr away so fast that, even at 1/1600th second, blur is the order of the day much of the time.

I have quite a lot of these shots, with a lot more of the close-up ones, when trimming down to the eight to post however, I tried to go for a bit of variety and so gave preference to those with some scenery in the shot.

All comments and critique are welcome, good or bad it all helps. I am planning a trip back to the islands later this year so will take all comments into account when shooting the next batch.

I love these shots. It's difficult to pick a favourite but #7 is excellent. It looks like they are certainly eating well. Great job.

Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em. The fish in the mouths just sets each of these off perfectly. Great captures!

Wonderful! It can be challenging to shoot against the ocean and sky, you pulled it off well.
