Dell Monitor Question

OK, I called Dell to order the new 22" 2209WA that is the star of another thread for $212 but the best they would do is $249. While on the phone I did find out that the 24" 2408WFP is now $499.

I may call back to see if I can get the $212 deal but I must say that at $499 the larger monitor is tempting.

Does anyone have any input on these monitors?

Thanks.

Dell sell some of the best monitors going around. Not sure if the extra 2" is worth nearly twice the price, but I've loved mine.

Did you speak to Dell Small Business? I just got one for $224 ($212 plus tax) and a friend from my office ordered one today.

So it's agreed the Dells are a good photo editing monitor?

I'm still using an old CRT 19" and want to upgrade to a 22"ish screen as it's had it's best days long ago, and I want my desktop back.
Has there been any good threads here lately on LCD monitor choices?

Some Dells are good, some are not. As with anything it is best not to generalize, but look at each item on its own. For instance, the Dell S2209W is NOT a good photo editing panel. But the 2209WA is. Both are Dells, both 22", but two totally different monitors.

Thanks for the comments. I did call Dell Small Business, actually, I talked to about five different people. I guess I need to call again.

If I can get it for $212 I will go 22"...but the pull of the 24" is pretty strong!

Read through the last few pages on this thread for the details on how to order. Apparently only a few specific reps have access to the deal.

I just called the toll free number.
The rep asked what I was looking for. I said the $197 deal on the 2209WA.

I included the sound bar ($30).
2 minutes later the deal was done.

I haven't heard about a $197.00 price on this monitor which is the UltraSharp 2209WA. Hopefully you were more specific than what you quoted in your post. "I said the $197 deal on the 2209W. 2 minutes later the deal was done." 2209W could mean the Dell E2209W or the S2209W. Hope you got the correct one.

Yes, I found a thread on the 2209WA and it seems the goods for the all important money/size/quality ratios.
It's a good thing I looked here as I was ready to plonk down money on a W but then discovered they don't have the "good" screens. I'm going to sit back and learn some more first methinks, but the WA has my money at the moment.

Thanks everyone for the info, it has saved me possible disappointment already.

Glad it worked out for you. Dell has so many monitors with only slightly different model numbers that even the sales reps get confused.

What is the "sound bar"?
edit: I found it. It's speakers for your monitor.
edit #2: $197?! Holy Moses! Who did you speak to?

Well, I ended up going with the "want" and my 2408WFP is on the way.
