So, what exactly is the 135L good for?

I scored a 135L in a package deal with a 5D and some other stuff about a month ago. I didn't want or need the lens (so I thought), but the package deal price was too good to pass on. I figured I'd just sell the 135, no sweat.
Now I've got a dilemna; the IQ is the best I've ever seen in my experience as a GWC. However, the focal length is odd for me.
So, help me rationalize why I need to keep this gem. What subjects do you folks use a 135mm prime for?

I love the 85mm on a crop camera. I t means I will probably like the 135mm on a 5D. It's a nice length to shoot portraits in my opinion.

It's excellent for taking photographs. It will do a splendid job with them :). Try using it that way, and see what comes out ... :).

it's spelled "lens", actually....

it's good for portraiture, sports, and just an all-around outdoor lens if you need some reach.

Ya, you're on to something there. That's what's killing me.
It's probably the fixed focal length rather than the focal length itself that's bugging me. I've been using a Rebel with a EF 28-135 for several years and zooming for proper frame is second nature to me. Maybe it's time to get used moving to and fro.

I love mine! I use it for portraits, candid street shotting, flowers, butterflies, a bit of macro (with tubes), sports, creative photography, "picking out details" in landscapes, architecture etc..

Clearly this lens sucks, and 135 is just a terrible focal length for anything, just send it over here and I will dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way for you...

See, for me, the focal length was odd on 1.6x, but I'd love it on full frame...be a perfect head and shoulders portrait prime. (I love the 85L on both my 1.3x and 1.6x bodies).
