I am a rookie of photograph. Can somebody recommend me a place to buy EOS series DSLR? I am looking forward for 50D.
I have browsed some websites such as rightbuydigital.com-449USD,some asks for 979USD or much higher.I don't understand the difference of a large scale of the price.

Please recommend me a good place to get it

Thanks

sorry.I forgot that. Now I am in Shanghai,China and gets a chance to study in US on Sep,2009.

It would be helpful if you told us where in the world you’re located.

My advice is to check out any website you buy from at www.bbb.org (external link) (better business bureau). Better yet, stick with www.BHPhoto.com (external link), www.adorama.com (external link), and www.amazon.com (external link). Those are where I've been and trust. Other members may have others to add.

I can't help with a location in China, but can offer a bit of advice. The reason for the large differance in price is that there are a lot of folks out there, especially on the web, who are unsavory and will offer a much lower price to draw in the less informed and when the purchase is made either try to sell them the other things needed to make the camera work or convince them that the camera at that price is not a good one and offer another at a much higher price. The general rule is that if the camera is being offered for significantly less than most other places, there is something fishy with the deal and extream caution should be used. There are quite a few such places here in the states but there are also many reputable dealers as well. I don't know if China has an equivilent web site but here many use Resellerratings.com to guage how good a particular web store is.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Here is a web site where buyers rate stores...
http://www.resellerratings.com/ (external link)

Remember...if the price seems too good to be true, don't buy there...
Since you are coming to the US, try local stores...you may get more help and advice than on the web...but you may get more help here :)
The more you know about the camera you buy, the better able you can take great photos with any camera....

HOLDING the camera in your hands may be the most important part of buying an expensive camera...some people like smaller cameras, some people like larger cameras....
Good luck and keep asking questions....we love to help you...

buydig.com and beachcamera.com are both top notch online retailers of Canon equipment as well.

Just stick to the sites we've mentioned so far. There are a lot of "deals" out there that are too good to be true... and trust us, they're not true.

But the price seems to be higher than that in shanghai, china. The only disadvantage is no warranty available in US.

It seems like you are trying to get someone to encourage you to go for price only. However, at least in the U.S., you will be very wise to only do business with companies that have good consumer ratings and business practices. Basically, when shopping in the U.S., if a deal seems too good to be true, it almost always is . . . A dSLR is a big investment. Only buy from a source you can trust. The only way you will be able to discern which businesses are trustworthy is to trust consumer ratings. You won't be disappointed with price/quality/service in the long run if you buy from someone like B&H or Adorama or one of the others mentioned above. Saving $100-200 on the front end will not be worth it if you end up with a lemon you can't return or can't get good service for.

you can get a Canon bought on eBay serviced at the same places as one bought from B&H. The return policy is the only real issue.
