Hey I just got an email from mpix, stating that until sunday the 8x10 prints will be 50% off...
I have never used a "PROFESSIONAL" photo site like that, but I figured why not try it while they're on sale. Could anyone who has used that site give me some pointers? I am concerned about the whole "pictures looking different on my monitor than what they get printed as" issue. I just bought a new monitor, gateway 22", and don't know much about calibrating..I will do a little research on the subject, but in the meantime any advice for getting photos printed online would be greatly appreciated..oh I do dabble in photoshop (cs3 and lightroom) with raw, but I do have many jpegs that I want to print as well..shouldn't matter too much for the mpix, right?
thanks

I use them and just had a 20x30 done of a landscape shot. Absolutely thrilled with the outcome.

I've ussd Mpix for a long time. Prints are fantastic and I have never had a a batch messed up or bad colors. You can just tick "do not color correct" on the order when you send it in. Mpix is great, I did however switch to WHCC recently. They have faster turn around time for me and free shipping..... and they include a tootsie pop in every order :) lol WHCC is fantastic as well. The free shipping on orders over $12 is a nice benefit to me as most my orders are smaller like that and with Mpix I have to add $6 for shipping. WHCC also gives you 5 free 8X10's when you sign up.

I know MPix has a lot of fans here, but I second WHCC the compliments above. I typically order on the weekend and the prints are at my home in WA Wednesday. The fee shipping on >$12 orders is what got me hooked.

My last few orders haven't had a Tootsie Pop, though. I wonder if the'yre cutting costs or if they just don't stick them in with large prints (I've been doing 16x24 and larger lately.)

Cheers,

Gary

My customers call, email and approach me at the horse shows to tell me how pleased they are with the image quality and how FAST they were delivered. .. all through MPix.

There were two times that the images got lost in the mail.. and the lab immediately reprinted & shipped them. Great customer service.

It's probably always good to have a backup/alternative though. .. Anyone have a link for WHCC?

I use MPIX all the time myself. Great service, good pricing, good turn around time. I like that they send me a color pic and CD with the .tif (upon request) so that I can fine tune my system for a more accurate color rendition of my final prints. Never been disappointed by MPIX!

I've been using WHCC as well, and have been very happy. I also just tried these guys http://www.prodpi.com/ (external link) and my 5 free 8x10 test prints came back excellent. One thing I like about ProDpi is that I don't have to do the up-sizing myself. With WHCC they want the file sized to print dimensions at 300ppi. I really don't want to have to resize an image for every print size. Yes, when it come to PP I am lazy.

You will be very satisfied with them. Excellent print quality!

I have used mpix as well. Very solid.

I would rank them in this order:

WHCC
Adorama
MPIX

You do not have to resize for all photos from WHCC. They only want the test photos at 300 DPI. I don't ever resize when I order.
