Mini session at home

Shot this with my daughter a while ago. Just now got around to editing the set.

Just a grided beauty dish for light.

Looks a bit soft but the photo looks good lighting-wise.

Its a combo of the cross processing and compression for web....
100% crop...

Stunning - so much emotion and poise from such a young girl. She is beautiful and adorable at the same time. I like it - the lighting, the pose, the PP treatment! Post more if you get time, would love to see them.

This photo looks very under exposed and the colors seem off. Hard to say which color is lacking... I think too little blue too much red.

I have a calibrated monitor and this image is not underexposed incorrectly and you can tell the color treatment was done on purpose with some type of cross processing. If anything, the whites are of eyes are too green - but that's about it. Just my defense of a nice image.

We'll agree to disagree. It is far too dim and mushy colors for my tastes with so much black shadows without detail.

Plus you don't know what developing was done to the image. if you think her eyes are too green... good chance the whole image is too green.

It is a tad green over here too, but just slightly. I love the composition and her expression, but what I think would really help is the ability to highlight her hair...separate her from the background. Either that, or lighten (or use a lighter backdrop) so she stands out from it. Just some tips that I have found in doing mini-home studio shoots myself.

There is no real background, so it would be hard to separate her. The "background" is just the rest of the room. She is about 2 feet from the beauty dish so there is about a 7 stop difference from her to the walls, so they just fall to black. As stated above it is "cross processed' which is always a split response. I am very into cross processing at the moment. Other people don't understand it. And I did try to whiten back her eyes but even a slight adjustment was to much, so I left them.

My girls have a love/hate relation with my photo. At times you would think they would die if you took their picture. At other times you would thing they would die if you don't take their picture. So I didn't take time to set anything up other than the Beauty dish, and that only because it was already on the light. I have to agree a soft hair light would make it a lot better. But alas, I didn't.
