One of the things that stood out at me from a Scott Kelby book was that interesting photos often show things in a way not often seen. I thought the original crop of this was far too ordinary, so I cropped it down to only show the road and brick walls. Now, however, I'm thinking that it may have just been pointless, and I'm worried that if the shot had any merit in the past, I killed it in the crop.

Can anybody offer thoughts?

I don't think it is cropped too much. It definately offers a unique perspective.

There is nothing interesting in the shot for me.

I agree with Condyk.
For me, it's a picture without a subject, although I do like the POV.

Thanks everybody for the comments. I think my problem with the picture was more along the lines of lack of subject than crop, which probably explains my trying to crop it in the first place... I just still lack the vocabulary, I suppose :)
