if you already ordered through midwest why didnt you get stands from them? i got a cheapy stand from them works good but really light so you need to add some weight to it so it wont fall over on windy days and on uneven ground.

They are not in stock... Next month they will be. I will be shooting bare flash.

White Fire, the shots of the lovely young lady are nice. Love the 4th and 6th. But that first one has serious shadow conflicts. foreground shadows are in different directions than background shadows and shadow from one subject is blacking out part of the other.

Thank you.
I know...My other shoot through umbrella broke the day before that shoot.
So only one flash was able to be through the white umbrella while the other one had to be bare. :(

oh i shoot bare alot now too. just get a cold shoe adapter and it should work fine. umbrella bracket will be better since you can adjust the angle of the whole flash unit its self.

My sunflowers won't be around for much longer. Anyone have any ideas on creative lighting setups?

OCF - Two 430EX II's fired with skyports. Camera right on 1/4 power, camera left and behind on 1/8th power.

Thanks.

Went out for a meet-up with other photographer yesterday and seen this guy working out so I asked if I could take some photos.

Settings varied between 1/1 - 1/2 power (580EX), 1/160s, f/11, 30D, 70-200mm f/2.8L IS, I-SHOOT PT-04 wireless triggers.

Used a 580exII in a shoot through umbrella, triggered with an ST-E2.

C&C would be appreciated!

Not bad. I agree they seem a bit soft, but I believe this is due to web compression. The BG of the one in front of the pool seems a bit too dark. There is also a red thing that is distracting. The subject also locked her elbow. I slight bend looks a bit better. ;)

Thanks. you're right! They look soft to me as well. I used my 50mm 1.8 for these shots and they all look soft when I downloaded them to the computer. Is it the problem with the lens or I didn't use it right? I shot them at f 3.2, 1.8 and 2.0 respectively. Which one looks softest?

Thanks for the ideas Rhino! I'll keep them in mind next time :)

Did you shoot RAW?
Sharpness is not a big issue, you can add sharpness by pp, i have many many shots by almost all my lenses soft RAW even at f8 or f11, when i open by DPP i see the sharpness is at 0 or 3, so then i add sharpness by DPP or later on Photoshop and it is rock!
