Tony... this is a newbie questions big time but... when you have your flash that your assistant is holding and the flash mounted on the camera and you want the light from the off camera flash to provide side lighting for example... how do you prevent the 580 that is on your camera from providing too much light - taking away the effect you want?

Good question...... In my setup.... I completely disable the Master flash from firing..... It is simply used as a trigger.

Really???!!! I’ve been trying for months to get rid of the black space in my picks for MONTHS!! All I need is a different trigger????

Keep in mind, you can get the same thing without buying Poppers or PW using the Canon flash units.... using the built in IR for your trigger. If you have the Canon flash unit.... set it to HSS and your ready to go. Heck.... for that matter..... this applies too if you only have a Canon Flash unit attached to your camera with no off camera.

Keep in mind the Poppers and Wizzards are simply turning the communication to wireless.

Unless you just have the money to spend and want new toys.... then I recommend trying the IR first.

What flash units do you have?

If your just wanting a set of new triggers....... well..... I've got a pair of poppers P1 version I'm selling for $225. I'm upgrading to the PX version.... yea... little money and needing new toys..... :-)

Hi ya'll,
I've been watching everyones work here for sometime and I just got my new setup so I'm about to start posting some results (once I get some that I can stand to look at that is). My first couple of hours with this OCF thing make me wanna call it quits, but I'm eager to get the results that you guys are getting so I'm gonna keep with it.

To Pham and Tony, I just got two pocket wizard FlexTT5's and I'm using two 580EX flashes... one is just a 580EX and the other is a 580EX II. I'm using the 580EX II on camera mounted on one of the FlexTT5's, off camera is a 580EX on the other FlexTT5.

Any pointers at all with this setup would be greatly appreciated!

Tony, great stuff. What's the major difference between the P1s and the PX. I'm curious, cause I just ordered the p1s, cause I couldn't see spending another $150 for the PX system. I tried searching for the major differences but I just came up empty handed. Radiopopper has a 30 day exchange policy, and I have 26 days left, but I was just wondering on your thoughts. I wish I knew you were selling yours, I would have considered buying them. By the way, Radiopopper's site is finally back up.
Thanks in advance.
Roy

Pham just got his new Flex units.... he will be a great resource for this question.

To me it was cosmetic choice..... The P1 units have the little fiber optic cable which you hold in place on the slave unit with a piece of "gaffers tape" or other tape if you have. The new PX units have better access to replace the batteries. The P1 units you remove the screws on the back of the unit to replace them. The PX units have a battery compartment cover, you simply remove.

Keep in mind when using the Poppers.... make sure you have fresh batteries in them each time out.

Technically I"m sure there is more.

Single 580 EX II in ETTL Backlighting the balloon crew. Fired from a distance of about 100 ft (yeah radiopoppers!) Noisy as hell, but I did what I could.

This space for rent.

Can I acheive any good results from one off camera flash or do you really need at least 2?
