i really want to do a high key shot now..

so did you use seemless paper? or just used flash behind her to blow out everything white?

i need to learn what my 580 and 430 can do in a small room..

teach the phamster..

Teach the phamster? Hey, teach the graph!

Anyhow, no its not seamless. I just tossed up a scrim, which is not the best choice in the world, as its absorbing alot of the light. There is a flash behind here -- I will put up a setup shot tonight.......

If I find a chair in the field, I'd use it for myself and not for the model... :)

funny guys..

i actually painted that chair on sunday..

my wife's friend gave us an old henry fithe type chair, beat up and totally not useable indoors.

so i just went to the local art store and spent 6 bucks on gold paint..

put 4-5 thin layers on the wood.. and whaaaa la.. a golden chair for the senior girls to sit on that looks cool..

i am going to get some red material for the seat bottom..

this model though she could do that-is a high school cheerleader.. we are going to do one more session later when she gets the outfit.. i really want to do a cool job with her to get into that high school pool.. you know one good job will lead to maybe 4 more..

any ideas on a convertable car shot? i was thinking of her in the cheerleader outfit doing a jump and having 3 other members of her squad on the back deck of the car..

using one flash to light her up on the jump and another lighting her friends up..

Is your insurance paid up? :)

How about her in the splits on the hood with her friends hanging on the windshield?

Hey Phamster,
Is that the 28 inch appolo that opens like an umbrella? ( sorry if I missed that info ) Are you shooting manual on the flash or ETTL? Great work! You and Tony are such an inspiration. Can't wait to shoot some OCF!

Phamster!! Great shots with the senior portraits! I'm trying to book a few senior portraits myself so, checking your shots, along with others will help me get some ideas.

Ok.... wanted to show a shot taken yesterday.... this is SOOC.... no editing. (except for logo) Wanted to show you can achieve what I feel is great lighting and color results with OCF. For you guys who not using OCF and are thinking of trying..... I believe you will be pleased once you start.

Will post an edited version later...

So I know this is a much earlier post but I was interested in the fact that this was bare flash close to the subject.

I read that the setup was a 550 and a 580. Were both firing (if you can remember back that far)? :)

With TTL - you don't use a preflash to meter your shot? I thought you had to do a preflash with TTL for the camera to know how to meter (forgive me I'm a newbie).

I see in that shot that the fast shutter speed is what prevented the subject from getting blown out by the bare flash. You shoot in AV?

Oh and one last thing - do you point your bare flash right at the subject when not using a modifier?

I have some really old light stands, a 16 foot ETTL off camera shoe cord (couldn't afford anything else) and a softlighter on the way. I can't wait to get started.

Now I just have to find a willing model. ;)
