Gonzo, these don't work for me. Either the flash or the ambient should be darker. As it is, it appears that this is a studio shot made in front of a canvas background.

The posted versions look brighter, not sure if its the resizing or something in the display. I agree that the faces are a tad bright. I wanted to use the softbox instead of direct flash but the winds we have here lately wouldnt allow it

Thank you to everyone for your comments. I started using off camera flash as an alternative to studio lights for the simple fact that I couldn't afford studio lights. I have now upgraded to a set of calumet 750 travelights for studio and schools. However, I still fall back to my speed lights when I need to set up quick and move light (high speed / low drag mentality). Here are a couple more with two speedlights. One in a photoflex softbox and one bounced off the ceiling for fill.

Not bad bro!

I don't do much in editing. All of my exif data is posted on my flickr. I do all of the editing in LightRoom 2.0 and hardly use photoshop anymore.

You must do a tutorial my friend. I would pay good money for it!

How about a before and after on the hair salon folks?

If you look close on the pic on the left, you can see the stand between them :D

The one on the bridge looks like it is out of a story book

These are great! when you say ebay diffuser, do you mean something like a stofen product?
Also, where was the light positioned/distance and at what power?

I love the editing on the last one. It looks surreal.
