I'm not a portrait picture taking person, but I ran across a howto DIY beauty dish and thought I would give it a try. I really like this off camera flash stuff. I've got the dish off to my left about 5 feet from my daughter here in this picture.

F/8 53mm 1/10 with ISO 200 - rebel xt

did you run the photo thru protraiture? looks smooooooth..

it is a good shot, and needs 1/3 exposure brought up on my monitor easy fix..

Yes Portraiture 2 used, hmmm could be, my monitor isn't calibrated

I used 4 lights on that one. Beauty dish on a boom as key, rims left and right and then a B400 in front in a large softbox for fill.

i like everything about it.

the angle
the wideangle lens
the backlighting
the angle iron the dude is standing on..

finally i am back. i pulled a bank job this weekend......a scholarship event for a local bank that needed headshots and full body shots of their scholarship winners. nothing that allowed me to jump out of the box with the lighting and background. the full body shots are going to be giant cardboard cutouts. fun. LOADS of editing still to do, here is the first portrait i have done.

430ex cam right -1/4 power shot through umbrella-softbox
540ez camera left- 1/4 power shot through umbrella-softbox

I'll add one just to subscribe...I need to read more of the thread. So far only made it through the first 20 pages. I'll be back...
If I remember correctly, set up on the darker on was 2 AB800's gridded (one from each side), and the one of my little guy was using the sun as hair light and 1 AB800 with octobox, 45deg camera right.

Great shot as is all of your work but I wonder about the PP in these. Can you share?

Haven't posted in a while.... between weddings, seniors, and my daughter (senior '09) Brooke is going to a Hollister casting call in the Fall. also she was in a showcase her agency does... two weeks ago and got callbacks from three agencies.... one from NY, Atlanta, and LA. We just did a few shots for her bathing suit portfolio. Agency in Atlanta wants her for bathing suit model.... maybe ole dad can retire soon.....
