Hi,

Someone is asking me to take a few snaps of his group and is gifting me a flash for it, I dont want to go for a higher range as I am not paying for it and that person is insisting on getting me something.

Is Vivitar 730AF compatible with Canon Digital Rebel 300D?? its selling for $65 and i dont want to go for anything higher than that. Price is really a constraint.

Please reply fast

Thanks

-Rohit

No, the Vivitar isn't compatible.. As a matter of fact, some vivitar flashes will damage your camera. They can have hundreds of volts at the pins.. Your camera only wants to see five.

Even if the voltage is correct, the flash won't do E-TTL. This means you'll have to shoot manually and choose the correct settings for every shot.

Best bet is to look for a lens that does E-TTL

I suspect that Jim meant to say "look for a flash that does E-TTL."

Sigma 500 DG Super(around $200.00) or Canon 420EX(little over $200.00). You can always look for used one for less then that like market place forum here or FM B & S forum. If not listed, start a WTB thread and maybe someone will sell you one.

Check out at BH, they are selling it for around $150.00 for a brand new Sigma 500 DG Super.
