Great thread title and excellent photo. Those tilted headstones look like they are yearning toward whatever comes after the 'pause'.

Lovely. I like the flare, even... adds to it looking like an oil painting almost.

Nice one, Marie! I like the way the light plays on it.

Thanks Frank
there was a nice splash of light at times
it was mostly raining slightly which kindof added to the atmosphere

the wind was wild with mist blowing and moving fast over the lakes
whoooooo sometimes very wet while mildly screaming through the trees clustered on the height
(where I was)

lol

I noticed blobs of water on the lens after I took the photo:rolleyes:
bound to happen with some of the shots I took:rolleyes:

lol

ah yes, 'the pause'

its something of a line from a 'poem' I've always loved
if you can bear with me a moment .....

in the film 'Carve Her Name With Pride' starring Virginia McKenna ......
the code-poem used in the film was the real code poem used by Violette Szabo while she was sending messages back from occupied France.
(2nd world war)
The poem was written by 'Leo Marks' (qv) who was a cryptographer for SOE and often used poems like this for agents to use.

'The life that I have is all that I have, the life that I have is yours.
The love that I have of the life that I have is yours and yours and yours.
A sleep I shall have, a rest I shall have, yet death will be but a pause.
For the peace of my years in the long green grass will be yours and yours and yours'

it was very clever (used for reasons as it was)
I always thought it very beautiful

thank you Jim

creeping around the big trunk the beautiful old trees twisty 'veins' (whatever).. old stems/roots/shoots..... seeing them they reminded me of the old oil paintings from way back where the trees always seemed to have such character and so much to tell , just by looking at them

now.....if they could talk ..........

lol

thanks a lot everyone

Interesting shot, and nicely done with the dapples of light. I'd consider cropping out the tombstone on the right edge, as well as cropping the bottom to get rid of the tombstone edge in the lower right. Maybe even a B/W conversion...

I love the tree on the right and how you lightened them up. Very nice shot.

I like the scene and the light, nice pp. I also like the limbs on the tree on the right side of the photo.

Beautiful photo Marie. Really has a wonderful mood about it, to me it's just so peaceful looking, one could get lost in this photo. I love it.

Had the same feeling. Wonderful photo that makes you want to revisit it over and over again.

Wonderful. Moody and rich.

I like both versions - with and without the PP.
