Mar 01, 2009 19:40 | #6 Thanks a lot! I'm still learning to handle the shallow DOF when shooting nearly wide-open with the 85 1.8. You have to be spot-on with the focus and it's quite tough. I'll be getting a 50D in the next 1-2 weeks, so hopefully that will help out quite a bit as far as getting better focus by allowing me to micro-adjust the 85, not to mention just having better focusing performance than the 450D. Howard Ting wrote in post #7433820 1 is a great shot 2 lens backfocus, I am sure it wasn't you're fault, just the nature of the lens 3 has great Action! face is a bit soft for my taste but it is a great shot overall great images for ISO 1600! keep shooting Scott

Mar 01, 2009 20:18 | #8 None of the above. Shooting manual mode all the way; I do get a bit of variation in the exposure depending on my look angle in the gym, but it's easily corrected in PP. Also using AI servo, center point focus with the focus control on the * button. Scott

They look just like my shots using the same gear. We use virtually the same camera settings as well. Canon 5D2 > 35L-85L-135L
